Duties and Responsibilities:
The Climbing & Bouldering Wall Attendant is responsible for managing the safety of the climbing wall area, assisting participants with climbing equipment, belaying climbers, and maintaining climbing routes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with supervision of the climbing wall and its climbers while also orienting climbers on proper and safe climbing techniques; provide climbing and belay instruction
Maintain, clean, and organize the Climbing Wall and surrounding area at all times; including but not limited to stripping and removing routes, cleaning holds, and replacing any unclear routes with new tape/tags
Inspect equipment on a regular basis; report any necessary repairs to Wellness Director
Set and maintain 3-4 quality climbing routes as directed by the Facility Supervisor on a monthly basis
Ensure all climbers abide by University and departmental policies and procedures
Attend staff training and all in-service trainings
When the rock wall is slow, you will be required to help the front desk as needed/assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to climb the wall safely and with proper technique
Minimum Qualifications:
Belay Certification within 30 days of hire.
If you are not already certified, AUM Wellness Center will send you to get certified
Possess a current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
Must be able to work throughout the academic year
