Posting Details Position Information Vacancy Number: F-00377 Position Title: Assistant Professor, Mathematics Classification Title: Department: Mathematics Employment Type: Full-Time Special Instructions to Applicant: The Department of Mathematics at Auburn University at Montgomery invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2024.
Candidates must have received a Ph.
D.
in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related field before May 2024.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in one or more of the following fields: statistics, data analysis, or a related field.
Preference will be given to those working in statistics and data analysis, however, all disciplines of statistics and mathematics are welcome to apply.
Successful candidates will have a strong record of significant research and excellence in teaching, a commitment to service at both the departmental and university levels, and will possess effective oral and written communication skills.
Successful candidates must demonstrate a passion for working with and mentoring students from underrepresented backgrounds.

Teaching experience is required and candidates who employ innovative, evidence-based teaching practices are preferred.
Postdoctoral research experience is a plus.
The ideal candidate would be expected to develop an externally funded research program with an emphasis on providing undergraduate research experiences.
Student mentoring, as well as a commitment to university, community, and professional service, is also expected.

The Montgomery metropolitan area is home to nearly 400,000 people and a hub for technology-intensive entities such as Maxwell AFB and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing.
AUM enrolls approximately 5,000 students, and the University is investing heavily in STEM education, including the renovation of a new building.
The Department of Mathematics currently includes eight tenure-track faculty and five lecturers and offers an undergraduate degree in Mathematics.
The department also offers two minors in Data Science and Statistics.
In addition, the department coordinates a two-year pre-engineering program that prepares students to transfer to an engineering school (usually the main campus of Auburn University).
