Duties and Responsibilities:
The Office of Admissions is accepting applications for an Admissions Counselor.
The qualified candidate selected for this position will be expected to perform in the following capacities:
Serve as prospective student advocate; assist prospective and continuing students with admissions, financial aid, and registration processes; plan and participate in student activities; make presentations to student and parent groups, high school professionals, and admissions professionals.
Schedule activities and procedures related to the recruitment calendar and plan; monitor student records; answer telephones and provide assistance to callers; and assist with campus visitation program; provide assistance to visitors; coordinate visitation meetings and activities, assist with campus tours, and conduct follow up activities.
Recruit students at high school and/or community college programs; assist with planning and implementation of on-campus recruitment programming; evaluate high school and college transcripts; assist with related student services offices/functions.
Represent AUM at various “honors” programs; present scholarships and awards to prospective students; assist with new student orientation activities; sponsor, recruit, train, and schedule these Warhawk Recruiters who assist with recruitment events.
Meet with prospective students to review admissions requirements and policies; arrange for specific meetings with additional campus members based upon student interest; coordinate efforts with numerous campus offices and individuals, (e.
g.
athletics, financial aid, housing, etc.
); assist with the training of frontline personnel and the answering of telephones during peak times.
Input data into Banner® Student Information System and CRM; admit, register and enroll transient and cross-enrolled students; assist with all on and off-campus recruitment and scholarship events; conduct appropriate written and oral follow up to all contacts and activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of university admissions and recruitment as well as national standards and ethics
Knowledge of functions, operations, and/or maintenance of computers, the Banner® Student Information System (particularly the recruitment and admissions modules)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, and Access Knowledge of acceptable advising and recruiting techniques and practices
Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations
Ability to represent the university in a positive manner, and depict the academic and campus life of AUM; ability to interact, communicate with and recruit students; ability to interact and work effectively with high school counselors and teachers, community college personnel, and parents of prospective students Skill in making written and oral presentations; exceptional interpersonal skills
Ability to input data into the Banner® system, and to process applications and other in-coming student forms
Ability to assist in the planning and conducting of varied programs for a few or hundreds of participants
Ability to travel, to conduct and participate in programming during evening and weekend hours, and to meet current university vehicle liability policy requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in a related area; collegiate experience preferred.
