JOB Alabama State University, Academic Affairs/Levi Watkins Learning Center, invites applications for the position of Cataloging Assistant.
Under direct supervision of the Associate Director of Public and Technical Library Services, processes library materials, and supervises student assistants.
Duties and Responsibilities: Perform cataloging of library materials in all formats, and adds and/or updates holding information in copy holdings and item records for copies and volumesWork in cooperation with the Assistant Catalog Librarian, the Archivist, and the Administrative Head Coordinator for Public, Technical & Assessment ServicesMaintain Local Holding Records in OCLCPerform Authority Control for name headings, title headings, and subject headingsParticipate in digitization projects including digitizing materials and create metadata;Participate in inventory control projects and perform metadata services for digital materialsProcess library materials, print spine labels, affix bar codes, and affix spine labelsCheck and prepare items to be sent to collections to make available for library usersMaintain daily cataloging statistics and metadata statisticsMaintain processing areasSupervise student workers and assistantsServe on library committeesResponsible for knowledge, understanding and implementation of LMS cataloging modulePerform error clean up in LMS Cataloging moduleInspect scanned files for quality and completeness and enter appropriate metadata for the scanned titlesPerform other duties as assigned SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION EEOC STATEMENT: It is the policy of Alabama State University to provide equal employment opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, genetic information or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.
