Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this classification exists is to assist the Registrar with all functions of collection documentation; and the management and care for approximately 4000 art objects in the permanent collection and any objects on loan to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA).
The work responsibilities are: assists registrar in all activities related to collections management; assists registrar with the care and storage of artworks; assists registrar with packing, shipping, and receiving of artworks; and contributes to the department objective by accepting additional assignments and performing administrative duties.
This position reports to the Museum Registrar.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Art History or related field and one (1) year of Art Museum work experience.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS: Position requires moderate physical activity that requires considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 40 pounds.
