Troy University John M.
Long School of Music is seeking an outstanding teacher specializing in French Horn Performance as well as the secondary area of Music History; one who is an accomplished and versatile French Horn player with potential national and international visibility, and will help grow the French Horn studio and also teach courses in the undergraduate Music History sequence.
Responsibilities include recruiting and teaching the Applied French Horn; teaching core courses in Music History and World Music Cultures; maintaining an active national and international creative research profile, consistent with expectation of tenure and promotion; participating in shared governance through service to the School, College, and University.
Additional teaching responsibilities may be assigned based on the need of the School of Music.
The start date for the position is August 1, 2024.

In Class Teaching Percentage Online Teaching Percentage Minimum Qualifications
1.
Doctorate degree in French Horn Performance (ABD with substantial professional experience
will be considered).
2.
A degree or significant graduate coursework in Music History.
3.
Experience teaching Applied French Horn in higher education.
4.
Experience teaching Music History courses in higher education.
5.
Demonstrated ability for effective recruitment.
6.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with
respect, empathy, and cultural humility.
7.
Engage in scholarly/creative activities leading to national visibility and contributing to a
university vision of internationalization and interdisciplinary collaboration
