Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in managing legal cases and maintaining case files
- Transcribe legal documents, correspondence, and memos accurately and efficiently
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, hearings, and depositions
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather necessary information for cases
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and preparing trial binders
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a legal assistant or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation
- Proficiency in legal case management software and tools
- Strong transcription skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Westlaw or other legal research platforms
- Ability to proofread legal documents for errors and inconsistencies
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Project management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
