Job Overview:
The Grounds Supervisor assigns tasks to the grounds maintenance crews.
Provides safety instruction and monitoring of crew activities.
Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures as directed on grounds, turf grass, pavements, walkways, parking decks, amphitheater, ponds, swimming pools and fountains.
This is a Foreman level position.

Duties And Responsibilities
Performs work outdoors and some tasks may be performed regardless of weather conditions
May require working while exposed to loud noises, dirt, dust, tobacco smoke and foul odors
Work is characterized by the necessity for considerable physical exertion, by close daily contact with unpleasant materials
Work involves heavy lifting and exposure to fumes, chemicals and other noxious odors, machinery with moving parts and noise
Working Foreman: both performs, and supervises performance of, physical tasks required to clean and maintain the facility and grounds including pools, buildings, outside structures and park areas
Where applicable, performs parking deck maintenance which includes but may not be limited to: collecting trash and debris and emptying and cleaning trash receptacles; replacing light bulbs, bollards and/or parking bumpers; pressure washing horizontal, vertical and overhead surfaces; painting and striping parking and other spaces; inspecting and cleaning stairwells, elevator landings and vestibules
Supervises, coordinates, monitors and assigns work to full-time and part-time staff
Requests grounds maintenance supplies, janitorial supplies and parts or services from qualified vendors in compliance with purchasing guidelines
Performs safety inspections on equipment and facilities under the employee’s supervision
Assists in the development of the assigned facilities’ maintenance budget and evaluates needs for new equipment
Accurately maintains records including assignments, time sheets, accident reports and maintenance records of the assigned facility
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)
High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment
Associate’s Degree in Related field– required
OR Two (2) years’ Supervisory experience– required
OR One (1) year experience as a Dual-Rate Supervisor in a PCI Gaming Department– required
OR Two (2) years’ experience in the hiring position’s Department– required
Employee must hold one of the following credentials granted by the State of Alabama– required
Landscape Planter – (SLP) Setting of Landscape Plants
Ornamental Turf and Pest Supervisor – (OTPS, OTPC)
Landscape Horticulturist – (LD) Landscape design
OR other state’s certification of equivalence to Alabama’s.
Candidate will be required to obtain Al certification within six (6) months of hire date
Two (2) years of Commercial or Municipal grounds maintenance and/or landscaping experience- required
Must have a valid and current State Driver’s License and an insurable driving record for purposes of driving company vehicles as required
Must have good hearing and eyesight
Must have ability to read, write and understand English
Must have a Tribal Gaming License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) as a requirement for this position
Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment
