Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for supervising quality assurance to ensure raw ingredients and finished goods are compliant with customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
They also provide direction to the team to ensure that facility is free from food safety hazards and is complaint with FSMA regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises, trains and schedules work of lab staff in the performance of quality analysis, reinforcing quality standards of raw ingredients and finished goods and provides daily direction for projects needed to be completed
Monitors daily analyses, tests, product holds and other lab activities
Manages the sampling process, documentation, and release of finished goods while ensuring regulatory compliance and customer specifications are met
Analyzes and reports on point of origination of quality discrepancies.
Works with department managers to determine cause and corrective action
Manages communication to Managers on customer concerns and complaints and participates in communicating responses to customers as directed
Coordinates GMP, quality and HACCP training for staff
Participates in the identification of improvements and changes to quality assurance and food safety programs
Purchases supplies for quality assurance, sanitation and food safety
Other duties, as assigned
Education and Experience Required:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in food related field.
(Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, etc.
) or equivalent experience
Must have experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
2+ year work experience in food plant sanitation or quality assurance
Previous experience designing and deploying training programs
Previous people leadership experience
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Strategic planning skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
