We are looking for a qualified *Safety & Training Manager *who will partner daily with our Human Resources/Compliance Department and oversee the continuous safety and growth of our locations while providing outstanding customer service and teamwork in a positive manner.
The *Safety & Training Manager *will provide awareness, guidance, ongoing training and technical expertise for all employees throughout our locations as required for the continued safe operations of our companies.
This position touches on every aspect of the operation and will be responsible for proper education and training to ensure the company, and its employees, are following all Federal and State laws, industry guidelines and company policies, as well as providing adequate metrics to confirm and adhere to their compliance.
The role oversees data systems, safety practices/activities and employees to maintain regulatory compliance.
This individual is also responsible for initial training, remedial training and continued professional development in all areas of safety and OSHA related compliance for all team members with in our offices, shops, as well as our motor coach operators.
The Safety & Training Manager coordinates and oversees our safety management processes at each of our locations, conducts audits and inspections, and monitors metrics and indices reflecting performance of all operators.
The ideal candidate for this role should possess a high work ethic, strategic thinking abilities, the ability to work a flexible schedule with possible “after hours/on call” periods, strong reasoning skills, people management abilities, depth of knowledge and experience with DOT/FMCSA regulations and OSHA safety practices and must possess a Commercial Driving License with a passenger endorsement with a minimum of three year's experience in the bus industry.
*Duties and Responsibilities* Some of the duties and responsibilities of this position include: • Reviews and audits driver's logs and maintains compliance with current ELD mandates.
• Implements, leads and enforces a safety culture within the company by providing a strong field presence and the ability to train others on safety awareness effectively.
• Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal agencies.
• Maintains current driver safety files and OSHA reporting records for all employees and locations.
• Performs safety audits, surveys, and inspections.
Prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures were indicated to present to management, then follows up to ensure measures have been implemented and adhered to.
• Conducts post-accident investigations, when needed, and prepares documentation identifying possible hazards/accident causes for use by company personnel and management in future trainings.
• Participates in the safety review committee investigations for all work-related accidents and incidents across the locations • Prepares and conducts training for compliance and safety standards/adherence.
• Identifies, assists in preparing and delivering training for drivers to include new driver orientation, corrective action, continuing education, remedial coaching, and quarterly Drivers Safety Meetings as required by company policy and/or FMCSA and as assigned by management.
• Conducts on-site training and evaluations of all new hires and existing employees concerning the safety and operation of assigned equipment.
• Complies with all other procedures outlined in the Operations & Procedure Manual, FMCSA, and DOT.
• Monitors key safety procedures and policies and advises management when action is required.
• Periodically audits operations and their processes to ensure compliance with company programs and Federal/State DOT regulations.
• Actively participates in programs sponsored by industry motor coach associations and keeps management informed of new regulations/upcoming changes in the area of safety and compliance.
• Performs accident investigations and assists with determining root cause.
Ensures proper documentation/record keeping is complete after the investigation concludes.
• Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker's compensation claims for all locations of Capital-Colonial Trailways • Maintains corporate safety resource library (e.
g.
, videos, regulations, reference manuals) • Supports the driver recruitment process by partnering with HR throughout the interview process, performing candidate road tests, training evaluations and assisting with ensuring driver qualification packets are current and complete.
• Monitors the Driver GPS/ELD safety system and provides coaching and feedback to drivers as required.
• Has demonstrated knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including, but not limited to, OSHA, EPA, DOT, FMCSA • Responsible for assisting with OSHA log maintenance, tracking, and posting • Accompanies employees and engages occupational clinic visits or hospitals, as needed post-accident/injury *Qualifications* Qualifications include: • Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas; business, industry safety-related field, industrial hygiene or human resources • Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement • Certified OSHA 10/30 Safety Training is desired • Proficiency in MS Office Suite products, as well as Excel and Word • Possesses a strong understanding of DOT/FMCSA mandated regulations/Hours of Service regulations.
