Overview: This role is responsible to lead a team of designers in the process of building comprehensive customer journeys, digital products, and service blueprints to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences enterprise-wide.
In addition, role will partner with business and technology leadership to strategically prioritize journeys and experiences most critical to the success of our customers and the business, as well as evangelize and apply customer-centric design principles to every aspect of the work.
Primary Responsibilities: Accountable for delivering high quality, customer-centric and device-appropriate experiences across the organization’s delivery channels and products.
Effectively lead teams who orchestrate products, services, and touchpoints to deliver differentiated customer and employee experiences that drive key outcomes.
Responsible for setting and executing the organization’s design strategy across businesses, products and ensuring the strategic success of design initiatives by monitoring performance measures.
Influence design-related decision making at any level of the organization and inspire through effective storytelling.
Responsible for all design and content management activities related to M&T’s product initiatives, analysis and research of customer behaviors.
Cultivate positive relationships with executives across the organization to ensure alignment and delivery of a holistic end-to-end customer and employee experience.
Coach, mentor, and manage design leaders on both work deliverables and career growth.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: Manage 4 – 6 direct reports and 20 – 30 indirect reports Education & Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 13 years in Digital and or Service Design, Product Design, Human-Centered Design, or similar, including 5 years in a management role or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 17 years’ higher education and/or work experience Experience in Systems thinking & Service design strategy and execution.
Experience in leading a design system team at scale Strong leadership skills - effectively communicating with authority and confidence, while building strong relationships with cross-functional teams.
