JOB SUMMARY This internship consists of various functions in the City of Prattville Creative and Cultural Arts Division of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Under supervision, will plan and execute City sponsored special events, including the Fourth of July festivities, Creekwalk Concerts, summer art exhibits, art and theatre camps and various other events.
FLSA status is Non-Exempt.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this classification.
The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related or logical assignments for this classification.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
Specific duties listed may not be required for all positions in this classification, but are determined by the normal requirements for the particular position.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITES (100%) Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
Sells tickets to plays and other events.
Registers students, vendors, and other participants for workshops, camps, car shows, and other programs.
Assists with planning, setting up, breaking down and managing of events, projects and programs.
Assists with preparation and execution of all Arts Center special events.
Completes research related to special events, rentals, and retain as directed.
Assists with summer camps, classes and workshops.
Assists with parades, concerts, farmers market, car shows and other special projects.
Assists with organizing files, supplies, and equipment.
Assists with keeping costumes, table cloths, and other things cleaned and stored properly.
Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be a current college student.
Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds repeatedly.
Willing to work nights and weekends.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The following requirements are normal for this classification.

Job duties are typically performed in an office and outdoors occasionally in extreme or inclement weather.
Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, etc.
Job duties may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
Job duties require the ability to deal with and relate to people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
Job duties require the ability to talk, express, or exchange ideas by means of spoken words and/or hear and perceive the nature of sounds by ear.
Job candidates must be able to adapt to and perform under moderate stress.
Job duties require regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: City of Prattville employees are required to obtain knowledge of the City of Prattville Policies and Procedures, and knowledge of their specific department rules, policies, and procedures.

Must submit to drug screenings for this safety position.
