Posting Details Position Information Vacancy Number: F-00380 Position Title: Assistant Professor, Biology and Environmental Science Classification Title: Department: Biology and Environmental Science Employment Type: Full-Time Special Instructions to Applicant: The Department of Biology and Environmental Science at Auburn University at Montgomery invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Environmental Scientist position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2024.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in one or more of the following fields: atmospheric science and climate change, hydrology and water quality, energy and sustainability, environmental chemistry, toxicology and pollution, environmental geology and soil sciences, environmental impact assessment, environmental policy and regulation, or human dimensions of environmental issues.
Successful candidates must demonstrate a passion for working with and mentoring students from underrepresented backgrounds.
Individuals from historically underrepresented groups and all those who share our commitment to inclusivity and passion for the strength of our diversity are strongly encouraged to apply.
Teaching experience is required and candidates who employ innovative, evidence-based teaching practices are preferred.
Postdoctoral research experience is also desirable.
We are looking for a candidate who can develop an externally-funded research program with an emphasis on providing undergraduates research experiences and better preparing them for success as scholars and professionals.
Opportunities for teaching upper-level undergraduate (and potentially graduate) courses in the candidate’s field of expertise are available.
Student mentoring, as well as a commitment to university, community, and professional service is also expected.
